One of the country’s grandest luxury hotels, The Alpina Gstaad – located in Saanenland in the heart of the Bernese Alpshas announced the appointment of Martin Göschel as executive chef of the property’s Michelin-starred restaurants.

In addition to taking over the helm of the Michelin-starred Sommet and MEGU restaurants, Göschel will also oversee the hotel’s popular traditional Swiss stübli and the Alpina Lounge, as well as banqueting facilities and room service. Along with his extensive experience gained while working with leading chefs in Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury hotels across Germany and Switzerland, Göschel most recently served as Head Chef at Restaurant Alte Post in the Black Forest, as well as serving as Executive Chef at Hotel Paradies in Ftan.

“I am delighted to have a new challenge overseeing the restaurants at The Alpina Gstaad,” says Göschel. “I have tremendous respect for the quality of the cuisine here and look forward to rising to the challenge. I am also eager to bring my own signature to the role.

Under Göschel’s headship, guests can expect to be treated to a wide variety of internationally inspired cuisine, from classic French cooking to dishes inspired by his travels to South America and AsiaAs Göschel himself admits, his cuisine is strongly influenced by both the character and natural surroundings of the region in which hes working.
